SUNTORY Midori Melon Midori is Japanese for “green”. The green bottle that adorns many a back-bar and turns a cocktail into a vibrant colour but it is also one of those liqueurs that probably never had on its own. Midori is a melon liqueur and many consumers have nothing against the fruit. Midori has adapted itself to become rather versatile when it is introduced with other ingredients. Midori, developed by Suntory, was launched in the United States in 1978 and with a party at the famous nightclub Studio 54, attended by the stars of Saturday Night Fever. Within the year of its release, Midori was named as the base to the cocktail ‘The Universe’, the winner of the US Bartender Guild Annual Competition. Following success in the USA, Midori launched in Australia and then Britain a year later, with international recognition in 1984 as the cocktail ‘Green Eyes’ became the official drink of the LA Olympics. The use of premium melon mainly from Yubari, Japan. Yubari melons account for just one percent of melon production in Japan and can only be found in this region. But first created is the raw liqueur using the best method for this specific type of melon. They then combine the raw liqueur with other fragrant ingredients using Suntory’s exclusive blending techniques.
DON JULIO Anejo Tequila. Handcrafted in the highlands of Mexico’s Jalisco region and made from the highest quality blue Weber agave, Tequila Don Julio Añejo is aged in smaller batches for eighteen months in American white-oak barrels. Clean and fresh, with a smooth, creamy texture. Grey Goose is a brand of vodka produced in France. It was created in the 1990s by Sidney Frank, who sold it in 2004 to Bacardi. The Maître de Chaifor Grey Goose is François Thibault, who developed the original recipe for the vodka in Cognac, France. The wheat used in the creation of Grey Goose vodka is grown in Picardy, France. Distilled in the same region, north and east of Paris, the distillate is then sent to Cognac, France, where it is blended with spring water and bottled. The wheat used in Grey Goose is soft winter wheat, sown in October and harvested in August, which provides it with four additional months of growth in comparison to summer wheat. The wheat sold is categorized as “superior bread-making wheat”, and wheat that is soft. Grey Goose is the first vodka to be produced in the Maître de Chai tradition, which allows aromas to be produced in the distillation process specific to it. It is made from 100% French ingredients, including flavored versions of the vodka. For instance, Grey Goose La Poire was the result of Thibault’s relationship with a Parisian pastry chef, whose pear tarte inspired the recipe for the new vodka flavor.
